pain during exercise - Posted by marieta (5 Replies, Updated 05/10/2009 03:54:33) | (Log in to post your reply) | marieta | 09/21/2005 06:28:51 | Message I don't know the answer to painful knees during biking and walking. My problem is a burning pain and numbness in my toes when I'm biking or walking. Does anyone know what might cause it or how to exercise without the pain?? I'm overweight, but how can I get in shape if I can't exercise?? Thanks for any advice.

I usually get pain on an old injury but i usually just try to change the way i do the exercise

Any weight off the joint exercise would be a big help.

Past this link above.
Symptoms depend on the type of nerves affected motor, sensory, autonomic, and where the nerves are located in the body. One or more types of nerves may be affected.
Common symptoms associated with damage to the motor nerve are muscle weakness, cramps, and spasms. Loss of balance and coordination may also occur. Damage to the sensory nerve can produce tingling, numbness, and pain. Pain associated with this nerve is described in various ways such as the following: sensation of wearing an invisible glove or sock , burning, freezing, or electric-like, extreme sensitivity to touch.
The autonomic nerve damage results in affects in involuntary functions. Symptoms from this type of damage include abnormal blood pressure and heart rate, reduced ability to perspire, constipation, bladder dysfunction (e.g., incontinence), and sexual dysfunction.[4]

 | Re: STATS everyone! - Posted by chunky | (Log in to post your reply) | chunky | 06/14/2006 07:59:53 | Message starving doesnt work!
look, your body is stupid.... it doesnt know what u want... it doesnt know that u want to burn your fat by starving urself... u got 2 understand how your body "thinks"... this goes way back in the stone age :)
back then there were seasons of plenty of food and seasons of very little food...
so, what your body does when ur starving - it thinks "a-ha, its starving period, i got 2 keep more fat for surviving it!"... and then, when you eat, with your body thinking its in starving period, most of your food goes in fat... while your gaining fat little by little, your body starts to eat your muscles, because the muscles are those that burn fat to get the enery, and your body doesnt want a lot of energy/fat loss beacuse it doesnt know when ull get chance to eat again... so, with starving, you are loosing weight! thats true! but you are loosing your muscles, not your fat!!! and you are surely not in shape, you are weak...
so, now u know why starving isnt healty....
the other way around - when you eat alot... and by that i mean when you eat alot of healty food - chicken breasts, fish etc. (food rich with proteins)
the body "thinks" u are in period of plenty of food, so it doest have to store all the enery in fat...
what your body needs is carbohydrates, proteins and fats... now the biggest mistake is - if i eat food rich with fats ill gain weight... wrong! you body needs fat! the thing is that fat in meat isnt so good... so, when eating fried chicken breast, try to fry it on olive oil... good fats are in olive oil, fish oil, flax oil... those oils will not get in your fat... the thing that surely will are carbohydrates... eating alot of bread will make you fat, eating alot of sweets will make you fat... but you got 2 remember that bodys primary source of energy are carbohydrates... fat is just a backup... so - u got to eat carbohydrates...
so the point is - you got to eat carbohydrates for energy, and if not used they transform into fat... so you got to use them by exercising... but whats with fat loss?
when you exercise you use carbohydrates that your muscles burn for energy... remember, your fat is just a backup! so if you use all of your carbohydrates too fast youll end up with your muscle "eating" itself for energy... the goal is to make your cardio workout low in intensity but long enough... u want to burn the most of fat possible in period of time, so you got to use your biggest muscles - quadriceps... you dont loose fat on the part of the body u workout but from the whole body.... so some middle speed walking will be just fine...
when you start walking muscles use carbohydrates for energy and none of your fat... walking, walking, and your body starts to use energy from fat, and thats what you want. by walking for a half an hour your body starts to take 50% from the carbohydrates and 50% from fat... after 3 hours of walking your body uses only your fat!
you cant avoid your muscles to be eaten up from them selves a little bit, so after workout u got to eat alot of protein rich food, and proteins are the ones that build your muscles so thats how ull repair them....
thats only a long story short...
eat healthy, eat alot and work out...
theres no magic pill...
and the only thing starvation can do to you - youll be weak, and im sure you know - you dont eat, you dont live...
