I workout almost everyday and my strength is increasing but I don t seem to be able to bulk up. I have always been a very thin guy my whole life. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

Hi

I think you don`t eat enough, i had the same problem in my younger years and all i had to do was to eat the right food and take 2 gainer drinks every day. Always supply with minerals, vitamins and omega 3-6-9.

Then you will see that you grow :)

Good luck!

My target weight has been 160 for a couple of months now. Considering I was about 138 at the beginning of the year, it takes quite a bit of work to get to 160 (without putting on any fat). I'm still sitting at about 8 percent bodyfat, I don't want to get above 9.

To be fair, it s really hard for a hardgainer such as yourself to put bulk on without putting on fat.

You just need to eat eat and yes you ve guessed it eat!

You will go over 10 , but you will lose it very soon when you start doing a weight loss program.

Putting on lean body mass without putting on fat is really hard.

on the other day do your chest, and then the triceps

I think what really matters is that you don't do each one too often. I try to do back and bis in the same workout, since working your back also works your bis. Same with tris. I try to do shoulders, chest, and tri's in the same workout, since all pushing exercises hit your tris.

I've not been working out for about 7 months or so, and the result of that is OBVIOUS in my weight.

I expect to be about 10 pounds heavier 6 weeks from now. We'll see!

I did get 10 pounds from somewhere! I think these crazy pills (prednisone) I got from the doctor for a bad case of poison ivy a couple of weeks ago made me hold a lot of water or something. I gained exactly 10 pounds in 7 days, which I thought was impossible! Really weird.

About the prednisone...I'm actually a pharmacist, and it is definitely a possibility! My doctor prescribed it for me for plantar facsitis (sp?) a while ago and I never filled the prescription because I knew what would happen with the weight gain...I'm so vain...so I just continue to hobble around...lol.

If it's just a short term thing you should be ok...long term is a whole other ball game. It actually affects the way your body partitions and uses food i.e. really promotes the fat storage.
Quick Strength Gains - Posted by matt

It's only been 6 days since I started working out again, and I'm already seeing some improvements in strength.

This chart shows a small gain in Chinups, and I've seen similar gains in military and overhead triceps extensions.

I expect I'll see more small gains over the next 2 weeks (as workout intensity increases), and then some big gains during weeks 4-6 as I drop off the intensity.
